When you use a home village layout
This is the base you actually live in. It defends every time another player attacks you in multiplayer, which means it is the layout standing between an attacker and both your storages and your trophies. Unlike a war base, it has loot to lose: gold, elixir and dark elixir sit in storages that an attacker can reach, and how far into the base those storages sit changes how much a raid is worth to them. It is also the base visitors see when they look you up.
How the copy link works
Press the copy button on any layout and the link opens Clash of Clans with that arrangement loaded into your home village editor. Nothing is committed until you save, and your war base layout is left alone. Anything you have not unlocked yet is skipped, so a layout copied mid-upgrade will have gaps you can close later.
Choosing one for TH16
Layouts are ordered by community rating, weighted so a base with a handful of votes cannot outrank one that has held its score over many. Sorting the main TH16 feed by copies over the last seven days is often more useful, since it shows what players are picking up right now rather than what was rated well months ago. Copy one, then move your storages and traps to fit whether you care more about protecting loot or holding trophies.
